Featured Neighborhood--Scott's Pond

Scott's Pond is a medium-sized residential development located in James City County off of Old Towne Road, adjacent to the Williamsburg Prime Outlet Mall and Williamsburg Memorial Park. The land traces it history to a former owner, Brig. General Benjamin Ewell, a Confederate Officer and long-time president of the College of William and Mary. His residence still exists and is located at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
The community is comprised of entirely single family homes, and was developed in two primary phases. The first phase of development occurred in 1999, with the building of approximately 80 homes over the next few years. This section of the subdivision was incorporated into the Scott's Pond Home Owners Association, whose contact information is located below. The second phase of development began in 2003, and finished in early 2008, comprising approximately 192 homes. This section of the community was incorporated as the Scott's Pond Community Assocition, and was designated "Ewell's Woods at Scott's Pond".
The actual pond for which the community is named is located in the Ewell's Woods section of the community, as are the numerous walking trails owned and managed by the Home Owners Association.

Tips for Finding the Perfect Neighborhood
1. Make a list of all of the amenities that are close by in the neighborhood you are considering as your new residence. Keep in mind what distances and routes to each of these places are acceptable and what are not.
2. Determine what the best features of the neighborhoods are. This is especially helpful if you are deciding between a few different neighborhoods. Are there parks nearby? Is it scenic and visually appealing? Are there quiet areas, streets, culs de sac? Are the people friendly in the neighborhood? Is the neighborhood clean? Yards, streets, parks? Are there nice trees and foliage? Do the lots have large or small yards? Are there walkways and are they easily accessible? Is it a safe neighborhood? What are the market values of the homes in the area? Are there many houses for sale? How long ago was the community developed? What is the average age of the people in the area? Are there families with small children in the area? What is the proximity to schools? Are there community events or organizations?
3. Walk around in the neighborhood. The best way to determine the cleanliness and friendliness of the neighborhood is to walk around in it and meet its residents. |
